The Mission: Impossible movies made more then $2 billion worldwide. $2,000,000,000. That’s a lot of money. People enjoy seeing Ethan Hunt, played by Tom Cruise, defy the odds to stop traitors and terrorist from destroying the world as we know it. But I always had a problem with the initial title of the TV and movie series. If the mission was really impossible, how does Ethan Hunt consistently save the day, again and again. The title should be Mission: Very Very Difficult or Mission: Improbable, but that doesn’t sound nearly as moving and the movies probably wouldn’t have made $2 billion.
But here in Hermon Youth Group we do have an impossible mission, reach the world (more then 7 billion people!) for Christ. Well, it’s not impossible because Christ is with us, but it is very difficult. Our mission isn’t an easy one and our mission is this: to CONNECT students and their families to the family of God, to SUPPORT these students and families holistically so they GROW in the graces of God, and MOVE forward in God’s journey for them.
We want the whole world to change because of what God is doing in our lives. This is going to be tough, but Jesus promises us in Mark 9:23 that, “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Will you believe with us that God will help us CONNECT, SUPPORT, GROW, and MOVE the students and their families we meet so we can change the world? Thank you and God bless.
